During her American road trip, Crowther captures a view out of her car window as the family leaves Astoria in Oregon.

Leaning over her right shoulder and shooting out of the rear passenger window, Crowther captures the lake water as it settles in the early evening sunlight. A golden sunlight streams in through the windscreen, casting her son in a warm glow.

The perspective is an unusual one. Here, we have the impression of being little intruders in a family snapshot. While he should be the subject of this portrait, the young boy's face is partly hidden by the edge of the camera frame because Crowther has focussed on the large tanker that sails across the horizon in the distance.
