Materials: Glass mirror and alabaster. One half, carved in alabaster, evokes the surface of a fossilized moon: a celestial body that may once have contained water and life. Its natural textures and veins read as an eroded landscape, a petrified trace of a vanished world. The other half, made of mirrored glass, opens the piece into boundless space, reflecting not only the observer but also the surrounding void. In doing so, the mirror reveals time as a collapse of moments what we see is always a reflection of what has already passed. The creation of Fossil Moon is a slow, meticulous manual process involving carving, sanding, and polishing by hand. Working at this scale transforms the act of sculpting into an immersive and meditative experience, where the artist engages physically with the material, shaping not only the stone but the perception of time itself.
