Greyhound and King Charles Spaniel, bronze with a brown patina, signed PJ Mêne
A prolific artist, Pierre Jules Mêne (1810-1879) distinguished himself as one of the leading French animal sculptors of the 19th century. from 1838, he exhibited at the Paris Salon; he established his own foundry and personally undertook the casting and chasing of his works.
His taste for animal sculpture, and above all the quality of his work, brought him great success.
