A sandstone sculpture created by Robert Neuhauser in Switzerland around the mid-1980s.
Deployed horizontally, the piece is organized around an elongated volume with softened contours, traversed by a carved line that structures the surface. This incision introduces a subtle tension into an otherwise fluid and continuous form.
The modeling evokes an almost corporeal presence, characteristic of the artist's work, which oscillates between abstraction and organic suggestion. The smoothness of the transitions and the absence of sharp edges reinforce this sensation.
The stone, with its subtly nuanced pinkish tones, captures the light and highlights the variations in surface. The work remains deliberately minimalist, allowing the material and form to interact freely.
This work belongs to the body of stone sculptures presented by Neuhauser in the late 1980s, notably at the exhibition Arbeiten in Stein (Working in Stone) at the Sigristenkeller Gallery in Bülach in 1989.
Robert Neuhauser, born in Altnau, developed a body of work centered on form and material, exploring wood, stone, bronze, and concrete through compositions that are both sensual and structured.
