This is a solid, traditionally crafted ceramic vessel, shaped by hand and fired in a wood kiln, giving it a warm, earthy tone and subtle surface variations that cannot be replicated industrially. (1)
The interior is sealed with a protective coating, making the planter suitable for direct planting or holding water without moisture seeping through the clay — a rare and highly practical feature for terracotta pieces.
Its form follows classical amphora proportions, making it both decorative and functional – ideal as a planter, rustic vase, or statement pottery piece.

This piece comes from a small pottery workshop in the village of Lyulyakovo, in the Burgas region of Bulgaria, and was handmade by a local artisan named Dimitar.
Each vessel is individually shaped and wood-fired using traditional methods, resulting in variations in size, form, and surface — no two pieces are exactly alike.
I sourced a small series of these pots, each with its own character, which is why they are offered individually rather than as a set.
Pieces like this reflect a slower, traditional way of making that is becoming increasingly rare. See less
