an extraordinary french baroque or louis xv console table in carved and gilded wood, made in the 18th century. It features a voluptuous yet light structure, emphasized by its remarkable cabriole legs, the apron with a large central scallop shell, and the marble top. It has only the two front legs, as the back must be anchored to the wall.

this style combines baroque and rococo influences, reflecting the opulence and sophistication characteristic of the period. What is most striking is the profuse carved decoration, in which the central element stands out: a decorative motif known as rocaille or coquille in the louis xv style. This translates as scallop shell or seashell, as it has the characteristic striated and curved shape of a seashell, a very popular element in 18th-century rococo art. The rest of its structure features stylized and fleshy plant motifs.
