Dimensions: Height x Width x Depth 56 x 163 x 62 cm. For sale is an original Biedermeier chest from around 1840, originating from the Alpine region, presumably western Austria, with beautiful elongated front panels and typical hand-painted floral motifs. The stylized Tree of Life and tendril ornaments in arcade-like panels are characteristic of Tyrol/Vorarlberg and lend the chest a special charm. It has been cleanly sanded, with an authentic patina and slight age-related paint loss (see photos). The interior is classically designed and functionally divided. The lid can be opened by lifting; no key is included. This chest is a decorative, regionally typical piece with much charm and history. See less
