The designer Jiří Kapr worked with Lachman on the project of the "sad iron" or "indecent iron", as it was still called in production. Together, they tried to develop an iron that would also attract attention in foreign markets. Therefore, they let their imagination run wild and in 1973, the 211 iron, described as Lachman's most controversial work and one of the most remarkable household products created in Czech history, went into production. In the iron's instructions, the new owners could read about the awards the iron had received: The perfect construction quality and avant-garde, purposeful design of these irons were awarded the right to use the MONTREAL 67 brand, awarded to products of the highest level. The special feature was the rhombic shape of the soleplate with two tips, which allowed ironing without having to turn it forward or backward. The 211 iron had the largest soleplate in the world, and a new feature patented by ETA was the possibility of placing it on its side on its longest edge. See less
