They are each unique … Read more Pair of copper and amber glass pendant lamps, hand blown glass by Nanny Still for Raak. They are each unique in execution. The deep amber expanded glass is blown into an external patinated copper spherical frame, creating a mix of metal and trapped organic glass is like cushions squeezing through the metal frame like air bubbles. Mid-Century Modern lamps designed by the Scandinavian by Nanny Still for the innovative Dutch lighting company Raak in the 1960's. This technique of ‘Glass trapped’ by metal dates back thousands of years, but this type of caged blown glassware lighting was a art form in Italy by the late 1700's. There craftsmen in the Venice area developed glass blends resilient and plastic enough to hold incredible detailed imprints through multiple manipulations. The lamps can be adjusted to alternating. or equal heights. They are rewired with antique gold braided flex. The drop is 100 cm. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no
official proof of authenticity,
