Elegant silver jardinière in an elliptical shape standing on four goat's feet with acanthus leaf connections, straight vertical walls with horizontal bands featuring various openwork decorations, oval cartouches applied centrally on the front and back, framed with laurel branches, smooth oval base plate made of solid silver. Matching glass insert, upper edge with capped lens cut, below stone decoration with incised stars on the upper edge protruding above the silver vessel, as well as a large cut star on the ground. Total dimensions: width: 31,0 cm / 12.20 in depth: 23,0 cm / 9.05 in height: 10,0 cm / 3.93 in silver weight: 1760 grams / 56.59 troy oz hallmarks: - diana's head - viennese official hallmark 1872-1922 for 800 silver - 'j.c.klinkosch' - manufactory sign of josef carl klinkosch founded in 1830 by stephan mayerhofer and carl klinkosch: 'k. K. Court and state priv. Gold, silver u. Plating manufacturers'. The mayerhofer & klinkosch silver workshop had developed into one of the most successful companies in the industry by 1850. In 1869 josef carl klinkosch became the sole owner and the successor company 'gold-, silber- und metallwaren-fabrik j. C. Klinkosch' was established. The company's success remained the same: like his father, josef carl klinkosch also received numerous commissions from the imperial court in vienna.
