Excellent Goldscheider Art Nouveau terracotta: Depiction of dancer Ruth Saint Denis (1877/79 - 1968, actually Ruth Dennis, 'Miss Ruth') performing … Read more Excellent Goldscheider Art Nouveau terracotta: Depiction of dancer Ruth Saint Denis (1877/79 - 1968, actually Ruth Dennis, 'Miss Ruth') performing her dance 'Radha'- Dance of the Five Senses, first performed in 1906. Dancer with her hair pinned up and adorned with pearl jewellery, her head gracefully inclined to one side, wearing a bustier and a long, wide skirt, held around her hips with a triple belt, holding this on the sides with her raised hands, bell bands on her ankle cuffs, one leg placed a step forward, behind her two baskets filled with roses. The terracotta figure is painted entirely in bronze and stands on a three-tiered, stepped plinth; artist's signature ‘Rosé’ is on the top of the plinth behind the figure, embossed ‘SCULPTURE’ mark and model number on the back of the plinth. This Art Nouveau design was also produced in faience and marble/alabaster.
