These kerosene lamps, designed by ilse d. Ammonsen and produced by daproma design in denmark during the 1950s, are exemplary of scandinavian mid-century design’s focus on precision, functionality, and material quality. Each lamp is crafted entirely from solid brass, emphasizing durability and a refined aesthetic. The design features a cylindrical reservoir situated above an adjustable arm mechanism, allowing for controlled operation. Below, the lamp incorporates a counterweighted, spoon-shaped element that functions as a wick regulator, suspended above a shallow circular base to ensure stability. Ilse d. Ammonsen was a danish designer recognized for her technical approach to everyday objects, combining engineering precision with the clean, modernist lines that define mid-century scandinavian design. Her collaboration with daproma design produced a series of finely crafted brass objects, where craftsmanship and utility were seamlessly integrated. These lamps are intended for use with liquid fuel, such as kerosene or lamp oil, with the upper cylinder serving as the fuel reservoir. The brass surfaces have naturally aged over time, developing a warm patina that enhances their vintage character and authenticity. Each lamp measures 8 cm in diameter and 27 cm in height (3.1 x 10.6 inches), presenting a compact and elegant form consistent with functional design principles of the period.
