Altars transcend culture, religion and time. These sacred spaces can consist of a frame containing trinkets that separately are meaningless, but combined are magical. They allow the individual to express what is most important to them.

In my ceramic art, I was drawn to create items for altar spaces, evolving to creating personal shrines themselves. This was an evolutionary process and one that is ongoing.

By spending time with an altar you’re entering a different mental space, one that allows for reflection and clarity. You’re doing something with this sacred space, planting a seed, setting an intention, thinking about an idea, that can take root and grow.
