Marisol Escobar, known as Marisol, was a Venezuelan-American mid-century artist known for her sculptures or "assemblages" made from wood and found objects. Marisol was born in Paris and moved to New York City where she became a world-famous artist in the mid-1960s. She and Andy Warhol were close friends and were known as the Queen and King of Pop Art in the New York 1960s art scene.
