Seated in the room are Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette. Standing nearby are French Foreign Minister Count de Vergennes and his wife. A woman is seen crowning Franklin with a laurel wreath, symbolizing honor and achievement. This historical scene captures the prestigious reception Franklin received during his time in France. The frame is gold over plaster over wood and original to the piece which is under glass. There are no tears or discolorations. This piece comes from the library of an estate in Santa Barbara California. See less
