Opened in 1861 and named for the playwright Augustin Eugène Scribe, the hotel stands in Paris’ Opéra district. The Jockey Club of Paris established its headquarters on the first two floors, and the hotel soon drew a circle of writers and cultural figures, among them Ernest Hemingway and Marcel Proust.
