Many years ago, Iris patiently sat for this striking oil portrait painting on canvas created by Tennessee artist, Wayne Summerlin. Striking is the apt adjective for this portrait. Summerlin perfectly captured Iris's elegant good looks and presented her in a moody bluish black backdrop with a particular eye to details. The shading is truly amazing with texture provided at the raven black hair and velvet frock which gives Iris dimension and a glowing countenance. The portrait reminds me of the work from Russian artist, Vladimir Tretchikoff, who famously captured a moody image of an Asian lady called 'The Green Lady.' Framed in an ornate gilded wood, backed with paper board and outfitted with wire for hanging. Signed 'W. Summerlin' and dated 1961 in the lower left. Inscribed at the back. Acquired directly from the Iris Abelson estate.

Very good vintage condition. There is a little gold paint loss on the frame as shown in photograph 11.

The painting with frame measures 22" wide x 26" tall x 1.75" deep. The painting without frame measures 19" wide x 22.75" tall. See less
