The underside of the base is clearly stamped "Handcrafted by John Moland", confirming artist attribution (see photos). Signed examples by regional American folk artists are increasingly difficult to find, making this an appealing piece for collectors of authentic folk art.

The carving exhibits classic mid-to-late 20th century folk styling, with simplified, expressive forms, carved wooden feet and beaks, and intentionally textured paint. The grouping depicts an adult bird accompanied by three juveniles, presented as a decorative narrative family scene rather than functional hunting decoys.

Condition (Important):

The piece is in very good vintage condition overall. One foot on the main (larger) duck shows an old, stable repair, visible upon close inspection but structurally sound and not distracting when displayed. Minor surface wear and paint variation are consistent with age and hand-crafted folk art. No other breaks, cracks, or repairs observed.
