Hand-thrown studio pottery mug by North Carolina potters Dan & Nancy Lovejoy, working out of Wendell since the late 20th century. Their work reflects the American studio pottery movement of the 1970s–1990s, favoring organic forms, carved surface detail, and layered earth-tone glazes achieved through gas and salt firing. This example features incised zigzag banding and a dotted lower register, conveying a tactile, artisan quality well suited to wabi-sabi, rustic modern, and collected interiors.
