The photographic work was … Read more A complete portfolio of gelatin silver prints entitled "A Visit with Magritte." by Duane Michals (1932-). The photographic work was created in 1965, and the portfolio was printed and published by Matrix Publications (Providence, Rhode Island) in 1981 as an edition of 30 copies plus 7 artist's proofs. The set on offer here is the first one of the editions 1/30.
The portfolio consists of six photographs on 5 sheets. Each with Michals' signature and edition notation 1/30 in ink on recto. The original folio-sized gilt-stamped green cloth colophon is present with the introduction page with the list of the work and edition signature. Each photograph is loose and stored in the protection binder as shown. It doesn't appear that they have been mounted and framed for display.
The images ranges from 3.5 x 5" to 6.75 x 10" and the sheets are 11 x 14".
The list of work is as following: Nude painting, interior Magritte home; René and Georgette Magritte, multiple exposure; René Magritte and his easel, double image; Terrarium, interior Magritte's home and René Magritte in bower hat, multiple exposure.
