Traveling Man Treasures is selling this handcrafted 1930s-1940s Giltwood Burmese Reclining Buddha, a significant iconographic representation in Buddhism that typically depicts the Buddha during his last moments before entering Parinirvana (death and final release from the cycle of rebirth). The Buddha is shown lying on his right side, with his head supported by his right hand. The sculpture is in good condition for its age with no breaks or significant damage, with appropriate wear as shown in the photos.
The carefully carved sculpture is finished with gold leaf (gilding), its robes adorned with elaborate glass bead inlays, sequins, or mirror fragments, which is characteristic of Burmese (Mandalay style) craftsmanship.
