A refined pair of early 19th-century botanical engravings from Curtis’s Botanical Magazine, published in London in 1804 and 1806.
Drawn by Sydenham Edwards and engraved by F. Sansom, these hand-colored copperplate engravings exemplify the precision and clarity of Curtis’s influential botanical work. Each composition balances scientific observation with a restrained, highly decorative sensibility including fine linework, controlled color, and elegant proportion.
