A set of eight vintage mid century modern high back dining chairs attributed to Schiønning & Elgaard, made in Denmark c. 1970s.
The top of the seatback features an elegant and ergonomic curve. Rectangular tapered legs and rounded edges throughout give the chairs a soft feel. With the bowtie-tapered stretcher bars in front and back, there’s not a sharp edge in sight. Empty space created by the slatted backs preserves a sense of openness across the dining room.
The seats have been fully reupholstered in Kiriko Rosa, a vibrant tweed fabric from Black Edition. New high density foam ensures a comfortable sit for years to come. The frames were lightly sanded and lacquered to restore the teakwood’s natural lustre.
This particular set of chairs is unmarked. The design is widely attributed to Schionning & Elgaard.
