This rare and highly versatile Mid-Century Modern dining table in rich walnut is attributed to Singer and Sons, the esteemed American manufacturer renowned for producing elegant modernist furniture in collaboration with leading designers of the era. The table features a beautifully grained walnut top with flowing, rounded ends that create a sophisticated oval or kidney-like silhouette when fully extended. It includes two matching leaves that allow the piece to transform seamlessly from a compact round configuration—ideal for smaller spaces—into a generous oval dining surface comfortably seating 6–8 guests.
Drawing on the refined proportions and organic elegance characteristic of Singer and Sons’ high-end productions from the 1960s, this example showcases exceptional Italian-influenced craftsmanship. The warm, deep tones of the walnut and the fluid grain patterns highlight the natural beauty of the wood, while the slender, tapered legs impart an airy, architectural presence typical of the finest Singer and Sons pieces of the period.
This exceptional table is in excellent vintage condition with a lovely patina that enhances its authentic mid-century character. The wood surfaces show minor wear consistent with age, while the structure remains solid and the extension mechanism operates smoothly, making it both practical and a true collector’s statement.
Perfect for modern dining rooms, open-concept living spaces, or as a versatile centerpiece that adapts beautifully to your needs. Whether configured compactly or fully extended, this rare walnut dining table brings timeless modernist elegance and sophisticated functionality to any interior.
A standout example of 1960s design attributed to Singer and Sons—rare in its thoughtful convertibility and exquisite walnut execution.
