These motifs evoke the Daoist and literati tradition of the scholar's studio, symbolizing cultivated refinement, longevity, and harmony with the natural world, also encompassing the border. Shadow design carving across the center field, faint, but present. Colors and shades include: Ivory, cobalt blue, navy blue, coffee brown, antique ivory, and more. Condition notes: Even, short pile height across. Most of the original side cord selvages are intact or restored. Fully secured sides and ends. Multiple areas of professional repile. One end measures 8'11 whereas the opposing measures 9'1. This variation is within normal margins for hand knotted rugs of this type, age, and size.
