This beautiful and unique Appalachian berry basket was handmade in a pouch style from a single piece of tulip poplar bark and stitched with elk hide. There is an elk hide loop that will allow the pouch to be hung.
Although this basket is a work of art, it can easily be used to hold a dry floral arrangement or artificial flower. Alternatively, it could be used to hold items in a bedroom or bathroom.
It would add a natural element to any decor style and would be perfect for a vacation home or cabin or man cave.
The basket was made by John and Holiday Hays (Holiday and Garshwiler) in 1984. A description is included on a card (refer to the pictures). It is in excellent condition.
The basket is approximately 9” high, approximately 9” wide and approximately 3.5” deep.
