While the blooms at the center are vibrant and reaching, others bend towards the earth, just beginning to fade. A small copper vessel echoes the warm tones of the flowers, and a very solid glass vase in the deepest blue provides contrast and permanence to the scene. In the background wall, the artist very subtly and beautifully picks up every color of their subjects. A mid-century, carved frame is a perfect surround for this oil on canvas, adding both earthiness and a gleam of gilt wood. It measures 22 x 26 (14 x 18 painting itself) and is signed by the artist in the lower right. The canvas stretcher bars in the back are stamped "Artist's Supply Company, #?
