This listing is for an antique tantalus liquor box/cabinet.
This piece dates to the early 19th century and was made in the English Regency style.
The design of this box with its folding doors and shelves is French, but the exterior design is English. It may have been made in England or it was possibly a French piece made for the English market.
When opened, the box reveals 2 sets of shelving on the sides (for drinking glasses and goblets). The center has a tray with 4 equal compartments for liquor decanters. The sides of the base tray can be opened revealing a section for cocktail forks and other utensils.
This tantalus appears to be in overall good condition for its age. Some signs of normal wear and age present (see photos).
The front can be locked with a skeleton key, but it is missing. The box is unlocked. The top opens and closes without issue.
The entire piece measures about 8.65 x 11.6 x 10.5 inches
