A mid-20th-century Italian cold-cast sculpture of a male athletic torso in the Neoclassical style, modeled after the ancient Belvedere Torso. Rendered in high-density bonded Carrara marble (oxolyte) by the studio of Amilcare Santini, this piece is mounted on a solid Nero Marquina marble plinth.
Amilcare Santini was a premier 20th-century Italian sculptor specializing in the reproduction of classical antiquities. Operating from his studio in Cecina, Italy, Santini utilized a proprietary bonded marble compound—combining crushed Carrara marble and resin—to achieve a material that retains the cool touch and significant weight of solid stone.
