A signed pair of stoneware table lamps designed and produced by Danish ceramicist Aage Rasmus Selsbo (1926–1996) at his studio Selsbo Keramik, Simlångsdalen, Sweden, 1960s. The cylindrical bodies are covered in a dense sgraffito surface — a network of incised crossing lines worked into the raw clay before firing, producing a tactile, almost textile-like relief under a unified matte brown glaze. The effect is quiet but absorbing: brutalist in its rawness, Scandinavian in its restraint.
Each lamp bears the impressed Selsbo Keramik studio mark to the base, together with an individual production number — a clear and documented mark of authenticity consistent with the studio's known output.
Pairs of signed Selsbo lamps are increasingly scarce. The studio closed with the artist's death in 1996, and matched pairs in consistent condition represent the most collectible format of his output. Selsbo Keramik pieces are held in private collections across Scandinavia and the United States, with examples regularly appearing on 1stDibs and at specialist Scandinavian design auctions.
Sold without lampshades.
