Modernist torch cut bird sculpture.
The work is unsigned but reminiscent of Curtis Jere.
Ideal Coastal Mid-Century / Modernist decor from a top maker of the period. It's in excellent condition, brass mounted securely to the stone. Brass shows some spotting, but it's the exact untouched patina you'd want to see in this nearly 50 year old design sculpture.
This sculpture features seven seagulls in flight and is mounted on a large piece of white marbled stone.
The term Brutalism (which derives from the French word brut, meaning “raw”) was coined to describe an architectural style that emerged in the 1950s featuring monumental buildings, whose design was meant to project an air of strength and solidity.
Ultra mid century piece of artwork!
Excellent condition.
It originally had a sticker (Steve Anderson) which is no longer there.
