Set of 4 dining chairs designed and produced by artesanos don bosco in chacas in the andes mountains of peru during the 1990’s. These chairs were made with a tongue-and-groove technique, resulting in a more meticulous carving compared to the ordinary hammer and nails technique. By working the wood by hand with a plane and ruler, each chair gets the typical ruffled surface. Each piece of furniture is unique and the artisan who worked on it from start to completion, etches his name in the wood underneath the seating. This specific set was built by woodworker edgar villalón. Beautiful tenon joints and highly ornamented backrests on the full cedar frames. In very good condition. Stamped by the production unit and engraved by edgar villalón underneathproduct / modeldining chairsdesignerartesanos don boscomanufacturerartesanos don bosco chacascountryperudate1990s. The movement began after father ugo sent young italian volunteers to brazil in 1966 to help build a school and health post in mato grosso. Over time, the mission expanded across south america—including peru, bolivia, and ecuador—while father ugo served the poor in the andes village of chacas.in 1979 ugo founded the first school for wood carving in chacas, that educated and trained children, selection based on their poverty and good will. Italian and local master artisans helped train students in woodworking and later on, also sculpture, glasswork, metalwork, textiles, and restoration, forming generations of skilled artists.graduates can join artisan cooperatives that allow them to earn a living in their villages without migrating to cities, supporting both their families and their communities. Because of the success of these schools, de censi also created some for girls. By the time of his death in 2018, more than 500 volunteers were supporting projects in four countries, especially in peru. Since 2008, artesanos don bosco has also expanded to the united states, bringing peruvian sacred art and handcrafted furniture to churches and customers abroad. This piece has an attribution mark,
