An extraordinary example of mid-century Italian design, this sculptural dining table by Vittorio Dassi, crafted in the 1950s and manufactured by La Permanente Mobili Cantù, reflects the elegance, innovation, and craftsmanship that defined the golden age of Italian modernism. The table’s architectural base is formed in a striking T-shaped structure, exquisitely veneered in rich hardwood and adorned with refined gold accents. Two sides of the base are detailed with an elegant ribbed motif, adding depth and texture that accentuate the craftsmanship. Resting atop this refined foundation is a subtly oval Rosa Aurora marble top with gently tapered edges, a clever visual illusion that gives the top a light, floating appearance while preserving its structural strength through its thicker center. The stone itself is a refined off-white marble, distinguished by delicate subtle peach, rose, and salmon-colored veining with occasional warmer brown tones, typical of this rare and beautiful variety. The nuanced coloration and organic patterning of the marble make each view of the table unique, inviting appreciation from every angle. The gold-painted metal elements lend an added layer of opulence, harmonizing beautifully with both the hardwood and the marble, and offering understated luxury in every detail. Functionality meets finesse with the addition of four discreet adjustable feet, allowing the piece to remain level even on uneven surfaces, an ideal feature for a variety of settings. The table has been thoughtfully restored: the wooden base has been completely refinished, with only one minor corner cracks remaining, visible in detailed photographs. The marble top is in good original condition, showing only light surface wear consistent with age and use but no chips or cracks. Versatile and visually commanding, this table is perfectly suited as a dining table, center table, or console in an upscale residential or boutique commercial interior. It is a rare opportunity to own a piece that encapsulates the sophistication and timeless aesthetic of post-war Italian design. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no
official proof of authenticity,
however it is well documented in design history. I take full responsibility for any authenticity
