Each cabinet is richly decorated with deep relief carving, characteristic of the highly detailed craftsmanship associated with Black Forest furniture. The fronts feature large carved panels, one depicting elaborate scrolling foliage and the other a dramatic hunting scene with a stag, framed by carved borders. The friezes are decorated with carved foliage and fruit motifs, while the sides retain further carved ornament typical of the style. Both cupboards stand on moulded plinth bases with bun feet, giving the pieces a solid and impressive presence.
