During our travels around scandinavia we come across numerous folk art and rustic coffers of this era, but this is up there with one of the best quality.

Dome topped with an overall base blue/grey colour scheme, black metal strap work and carrying handles.  Beautifully hand painted to the front with florals and swags, date and first owners names.   Substantial lid opens to reveal and further painted interior with date and initials inside a hand painted wreath and the standard fitted candle box.  All unusually raised on the original small bun feet.  Remarkably supplied with 2 working keys for the original working lock.

Expected surface marks, natural fading and wear to paint work.  Minor restoration to metal work to keep secure. See less
