Technical Materials: This pristine pair of Model 4875 dining chairs, designed by the iconic Carlo Bartoli for the Italian manufacturer Kartell in the 1970s, is a spectacular find. Constructed entirely from durable red ABS plastic, a groundbreaking material of the era, the design is a seamless monobloc. These chairs are New Old Stock, they are effectively unused, a time capsule from the period. This pair has never been out of its original packaging and comes with its authentic, period Kartell cardboard box (Model 4875, made in Italy). One chair is fully assembled, showcasing the smooth, geometric lines and the striking, glossy red finish, while the other is shown disassembled, still partially wrapped, alongside its unsealed components.
Condition: Excellent, flawless original condition. As uncirculated New Old Stock, they retain their original sheen, color saturation, and structural integrity. Both chairs are 100% complete with all original parts. The box, while showing typical storage patina, is a key collectible in its own right.
Versatility: The Model 4875 is a true classic of Italian industrial design and an icon of the 1970s "Pop" movement. This uncirculated, NOS status makes them an exceptional collector's item and an irreplaceable addition to a design museum or high-end private collection. While perfect for display, their pristine robustness makes them ready for use in a Parisian mid-century apartment or as unique accent pieces in a minimalist Amsterdam studio. They integrate beautifully with other iconic Italian plastic designs from designers like Ettore Sottsass or Joe Colombo.
Collectible Plastic Design & New Old Stock. Why are these uncirculated Kartell 4875 chairs rare? Most were used, faded, or damaged over the decades. Finding a pair in their original Kartell box (New Old Stock) is nearly unique and significantly increases their value for collectors. I have official proof of authenticity such as vintage catalogs,
designer records,
or other literature sources and take full responsibility for any authenticity issues arising
from
misattribution
