Royal delft delvert teal and white hand-painted ceramic table lamp, 1970 — among the rarest lines de porceleyne fles ever produced, made for just eight years and never revived. Offered with a new custom empire shade in coral silk with braided houlès paris trim at top and bottom edges; fitted with a us or international plug of your choice. Height as listed includes the lampshade.
the delvert line takes its name from a fusion of delft and vert — french for green — and departs entirely from the manufactory's signature blue and white in favor of two tones of teal: dark teal outlines filled with a softer sage, painted against a pale celadon ground. Produced from 1968 to 1976 only, it was designed by dutch painter herman sanders and is now actively sought by collectors. The motifs here are bold and formal — stylized lotus blooms, layered petals, and scrolling foliage arranged symmetrically around the double-gourd form, with a running botanical border encircling the shoulder.
the coral silk shade is a confident counterpoint. Teal and coral sit opposite each other on the color wheel, and the warmth of the peachy silk against the cool celadon base creates exactly the kind of considered tension that makes a lamp a room's focal point rather than its afterthought. Both edges are finished with braided houles paris passementerie — the parisian trim house whose work appears in some of the world's most distinguished interiors.
the base carries the hand-painted royal delft jt jar mark with "delft" in script; painter's initials mjo appear to the left, year code co to the right, confirming 1970 production. Shape number 1930 is recorded below. Newly wired with a twisted peach cord; fitted with a us or international plug of your choice.
