Created during the second … Read more This solid bronze pedestal table is a true ode to free form and the material itself. Created during the second half of the 20th century by a Parisian craftsman, this anonymous piece demonstrates a perfect mastery of casting and patination. It embodies a resolutely modernist style, evoking the organic abstraction and sculptural design of the 1970s. The base, with its almost totemic presence, is composed of superimposed ovoid volumes, linked by a daringly delicate constriction. The dense base is pierced by two facing oculi, creating a tunnel of light that passes through the metal and visually lightens the power of the bronze. The circular top, with its subtly vibrant surface, seems to float in equilibrium on this base with its biomorphic lines. The dark and nuanced bronze patina catches the light with a particular softness, revealing the hand's work behind the metal.
