A handsome and finely worked brass casket from the 19th century, almost certainly French or German in origin. All four sides and the lid are enriched with repousséed relief panels depicting classical figures — robed processions, mythological scenes, and courtly subjects — each framed by rope-twist moldings and foliate borders in the manner so prized by Grand Tour collectors and Continental decorative arts enthusiasts alike.

The gilt brass retains a beautiful two-tone patina, with warm golden surfaces and silvery highlights deepening in the recesses — the hallmark of an untouched, naturally aged finish that no reproduction can replicate. Raised on four small bracket feet. The interior is wood-lined, with decorative brass rivet detailing to the underside of the lid. Hinged lid in good working order.
