This Victorian silverplate napkin ring by Rogers & Bros is a fine example of the Aesthetic Movement's enthusiasm for Japonesque decoration, with a cast butterfly perched on a fan mounted to an engraved circular base, and the ring itself covered in fine stippled and floral engraving. The combination of motifs, butterfly, fan, and sunburst engraving on the base, is entirely characteristic of the Anglo-Japanese taste that swept American decorative arts in the 1870s and 1880s. Marked Rogers & Bros Triple Plate with pattern number 209 on the underside.
The piece measures 4.25 inches wide by 3 inches deep by 2.5 inches tall. It is in good antique condition with age-appropriate tarnish throughout. Please see all available photographs and consider them as part of the item description.
