Striking oil painting from Sweden titled The Corner Cabinet in Falsterbo" painted by Ulla Borgström (1918-1999) listed artist from Sweden. Whimsical interior rendered in expressive flowing impasto brushwork and harmonious color! I love the composition and detail. The result is a playful yet sophisticated interior still life that merges whimsy with structure which are hallmarks of Borgstrom's distinctive mid-century visual language. This is a stunning painting by one of our favorite artists. Wonderful in person!
The painting is initialed and dated 1975 on the lower right front. The painting measures 19 and 1/2 inches wide by 39 and 1/4 inches wide framed to a size of 20 and 1/4 inches wide by 40 inches high.
The painting is in very good condition with minimal vintage wear. The linen canvas is tight, intact and without repairs. It is framed in a primitive wooden strip frame that is painted black. The frame shows the usual vintage wear but is presentable and adds to the charm of this painting.
