A testament of form and function featuring a traditional scenes of birds in flight, flowers, roses and gardens. All hand-painted on 3 sides; the back is solid white.

The chinoiserie style would be associated with “Red Lantern” or Ming-style craftsmanship. The fine lacquer finish is Solid- often times would have up to 12 coats of lacquer for the high-gloss exterior.

Drawers are lined with Keely green felted fabric, also spring like and a vintage standard.

The boarder- painted on 3 out of 4 sides is a geometric repeating pattern of gold leaves, framed by boxing lines, reminiscent of the effect of a Greek key border, but more botanical. Greek key-style drawer pulls and locks are brass. I am able to turn one of two key locks (so one drawer functionally lockable) with the two included keys. The other might eventually work I don’t want to create any damage by trying too hard and it’s not my area of expertise!
