Don Rickles (1926–2017), the legendary comedian celebrated for his sharp wit and iconic insult comedy. A beloved fixture on The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson, Rickles appeared more than 100 times and was famously admired by contemporaries such as Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin, whom he playfully roasted both onstage and off.
C.P.O. Sharkey, the NBC sitcom in which Rickles starred as the irreverent yet ultimately warm-hearted Chief Petty Officer Sharkey. Airing from 1976 to 1978, the series followed Sharkey’s command of a naval training center in California, blending Rickles’ signature sarcasm with moments of genuine camaraderie.
