Gerhard Marcks – “The Little Cats”
About the work:
A significant graphic work by the German sculptor and Bauhaus master Gerhard Marcks (1889–1981). The motif “The Little Cats” (also known as “Staircase Cats”) dates from 1922 – one of the artist's most creative periods during his time as a form master at the Bauhaus in Weimar.
This woodcut captivates with the reduction and expressive lines typical of Marcks, making the motif a timeless classic of Classical Modernism.
