A Murano glass ashtray hand-blown in Italy during the 1960s by Archimede Seguso, one of Murano’s most technically accomplished post-war glassmakers. The bowl is formed in vivid ruby-red glass and executed in the bullicante technique, characterised by precise rows of air bubbles suspended within the body of the glass through controlled air infusion during blowing. Oval in form with a single integrated notch, the piece was originally designed to cradle a cigarette, reflecting the refined modernist approach to functional glassware typical of mid-century Murano production. The softly rounded profile and saturated colour give the object a strong sculptural presence beyond its original utilitarian purpose. Approximate dimensions: 11 cm wide, 8 cm deep, and 2 cm high. In good vintage condition, the polished base shows surface wear consistent with age and careful use. While conceived as an ashtray, the piece also functions beautifully as a vide-poche or decorative tabletop accent. A concise and expressive example of Italian mid-century Murano glass by a master of technical precision. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no
official proof of authenticity,
however it is well documented in design history. I take full responsibility for any authenticity
