Drawing directly from napoleonic-era french empire design, the lamp combines classical ornamentation with substantial materials and precise metalwork. The octagonal base is clad in richly veined verde alpi marble, providing architectural weight and contrast. Rising from the base are eight patinated wrought iron uprights, flared to create an open urn-form silhouette. Suspended between each upright are cast bronze garland swags, a defining motif of empire decoration. The central ring is accented with detailed bronze rosettes, reinforcing the neoclassical vocabulary. The composition balances marble, iron, and bronze in a manner characteristic of maitland-smith production of the period, likely originating from the firm’s philippine workshops known for skilled metalwork and stone finishes.
