An early 20th-century silverplate centerpiece basket by the Crescent Silver Manufacturing Company featuring exceptional repoussé work and intricate piercings. Known as a "Bridal Basket," this footed vessel serves as a commanding focal point for a dining table, sideboard, or entry console.
The basket is defined by its scalloped, undulating rim adorned with a continuous repoussé frieze depicting traditional Dutch pastoral scenes, including windmills, sailing vessels, and figures in period dress.
The upper gallery features delicate floral cut-outs that allow light to pass through, highlighting the interior’s high-polish finish. The high-arched handle is decorated with acanthus leaf scrolls and floral flourishes. Basket is elevated on a flared pedestal foot, which repeats the narrative Dutch landscape motifs found on the body, ensuring visual harmony from top to bottom.
The underside is stamped with the Crescent Silver Mfg. Co. hallmark and "Triple Plate," denoting a superior thickness of silver application designed for longevity. 7.25"H (14.5" with the handle) x 11"W.
