A sophisticated pair of framed prints depicting two of Rome’s most iconic ancient structures: the Arch of Titus and the Arch of Drusus. Rendered with fine detail, in monochrome with aged sepia undertones, these etchings emphasize the weathered textures of the stone and the lush overgrowth typical of the Veduta style, making them a perfect addition to a library, study, or formal living space.
The prints are elegantly housed in ornate, gilded wood frames with a distressed gold-leaf finish and classical molding, and under glass. The presentation is elevated by luxurious cream dupioni silk, which adds a subtle sheen and luxurious tactile element to the ensemble.
These etchings are quintessential examples of the Grand Tour style, likely produced in Rome during the early to mid-19th century and based on the works of Italian artist Luigi Rossini. The framing, however, suggests they were professionally "decorator framed" in the mid-to-late 20th century. This type of high-end, traditional framing was very popular for creating a "gentleman’s library" or Neoclassical aesthetic in luxury interiors.
