the tall and narrow design allows for numerous storage compartments while maintaining a compact footprint. Each drawer features shell-shaped metal handles, a typical detail found in functional japanese furniture from the mid-twentieth century.

the cabinet is constructed from a combination of woods commonly used in japanese utilitarian furniture, including kalopanax (kalopanax septemlobus), shorea, rubberwood (hevea brasiliensis) and japanese cedar (cryptomeria japonica). This mix of species provided durability while keeping the drawers lightweight.

the drawer fronts display a warm wood grain that contrasts beautifully with the dark patina of the metal handles. The surface retains a natural aged patina, with marks of use that reflect its original purpose.
