The stepped construction gives the piece an immediate sculptural presence, while the understated iron handles and clear lines create a calm and balanced overall look.

The layout is thoughtful and highly practical. The cabinet features two drawers, one at the top and one at the bottom. In the centre are sliding doors with slatted fronts; behind them is a compartment with a shelf and, at the bottom, two additional small and practical drawers. An added advantage is that both sides are finished in the same way, allowing the piece to stand freely in a room while remaining attractive and accessible from multiple angles.

It is precisely this combination of storage and display that makes this stair chest so appealing today.
